A pity Radiohead couldn't give their fans a few stand alone treats. As U2 have done over a dozen times.  They haven't been very prolific with albums since their first album, 13 years after U2's first.

Remember hearing HMTMKMKM pumping out in my gym in the summer of 95, Window in the Sky growing on me & waiting for Bono & Paverotti to enter 'The Gangs of New York.

Ahhh, the memories.

Gosh.

U2 release songs such as windows on the skies and that utter shite they did with green day as stand alone songs. Let’s not forget ahimsa and that football song.

Meanwhile Radiohead blessed humanity with songs such as Supercollider and Spectre.

You’re welcome.

3 Thom Yorke solo albums

A side project "The Smile" just released recently 2 singles with 2 of the band in it inc Thom...

As for being prolific they have released 9 albums since their debut in 1993....u2 have released 7 in the same period.

Neither band are prolific but feels a touch odd calling out radiohead for not being prolific.

Especially when lead singer has released 3 full length solo albums as well.

Spectre lost to Sam Smith.

Plus…

Johnny Greenwood’s movie soundtracks
Ed O’Brien’s album
Phil Selway’s album

Not in the same league. Definitely not.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Thom Yorke’s movie soundtrack work, too. Suspiria is excellent. Not Ahimsa level excellence but excellent nonetheless.

Looks like a 4 point win by Radiohead.

Wonder if Muse would have got more votes if they had released their eighth album this century earlier, rather than this year due to Covid.

Doubt U2 are concerned. They won the 'Band of the 80's' poll by 14 points & the 'Band of the 90's' poll by 13 points.

The surprise about the 80's poll is Queen got no votes.

They were big going into the 80's & continued releasing hit singles & studio/live albums over the decade. They were also a huge live band & did something U2 have never done - played Knebworth.

Queens albums then were respected, but not up there with U2's 80's classics.

Gotta give it to Arcade Fire.  Rock is pretty much dead now.
