Best of the Best - Song Elimination Round 5 RUNOFF
« on: November 28, 2020, 12:45:10 PM »
Vote for what you think is the WORST song here.

No song can be eliminated unless it wins a majority of votes.  If no song gets a majority in the initial vote, that round will go to a runoff, with the top two songs from each round competing against each other directly.  If there is a tie for second or a multi-way tie for first, then more than two songs may end up in the runoff.

No poll will be called until at least 30 votes have been cast or a full week has passed since the poll began.

For the album elimination polls, I also didn't allow people to change their vote, as I didn't want people to be biased and vote for a song they don't actually think is the worst in order to save a song that they like from being eliminated.  However, with the runoff system, that's not a problem, as votes for songs that have no shot of winning the round will not be thrown away.  As a result, you will be allowed to change your vote.

So, without further ado, get voting!  Vote for what you think is the WORST song, and the song with the most votes will be removed after each round.  One song will be chosen as the best song of U2's entire catalog according to us.  Along the way, I will be noting some other less-significant results like the best of each decade.

Little Things. It was between that and the dirgier Sometimes You Can't Make It...

The latter benefits from a superior Bono vocal, though, so I spared it this round.

Little Things. A kind of bland song that gets a lot of love in the U2 fandom for whatever reason.

Maybe you have to be old, have had a psychotic break, or have watched someone close to you have a psychotic break.

I hope so. I started out enjoying it a lot more than I do now, probably just because it was new U2 music. But after a while it wasn't a standout track on SOE for me like Red Flag Day, Lights of Home, or Book of Your Heart were. It's not as bad as GOOYOW or American Soul or The Blackout or anything, but I just don't enjoy it as much as many other songs on the album. It seems like they were trying to sound as "U2-like" as possible with both the chorus and the whole second half of the song; it's a little forced and a little fake.
