Miracle Drug

Similar to 'No Line on the Horizon' (the song), not much is said about this.

Following up lead single Vertigo on Bomb, it seemed like a probable second single. U2 playing it live on popular music programme CDUK. However wasn't released as a single at all & is barely mentioned.

I think it's a very good song. And, I was lucky enough to see it played live, which just confirmed my feelings.

On the scale of 1 to 10, id say MD is around the 6.5 mark, for me. Its nowhere near the best u2 song ever, nowhere near the worst u2 song ever.
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

Yeah, it's certainly not a classic, but it's very good. Very touching...gives one hope.

I voted for "quite good"

At first listen you get the classic u2 vibe and the percolating sense of hopeful urgency building throughout the song.

It does however contain this notorious line:

"Freedom has a scent
Like the top of a newborn baby's head"

For those paying attention, this was your early warning, a clear sign of panic that there might be a crack in the hull of the songwriting vessel.

Aside from that i still consider it a 7
He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

Folks seem to agree this isn't a bad song but I've never managed to hear anything more than yet another bit of filler on a filler album.

It's not Zoo Station. It's 80's/noughties U2 by numbers. But nobody does that better than them.

Good to hear Edges voice for a bit.

Quite good bordering on very good.  It was good live and I like the brief vocals from The Edge.

Don't like it. The build-up to the yelpy chorus is pretentious, and the song is rather lifeless as a whole.

Somewhere between very and quite; I rounded up for my vote.

I wish U2 had done more songs with Bono and Edge swapping lead vocals. Oh, well, there's still time.

A top 50 song. Definitely a very good one. I really like it, and always have.
