I've never heard of the band James nor any of their songs.  When I hear the name James related to music I can only think of the worst Oasis song of all time, Little James.

You might have heard their two biggest hits Laid (song was used in American Pie Movies) and Sit Down? Their albums from 1990 till 2001 were superb. I dont think they have come anywhere near that same level since they reformed in 2007

He's probably heard Born Of Frustration, but doesn't know it. It was used for some TV ad here, and that ad ran for a few years.

Born Of Frustration is pretty much in my Top 3 James tunes of all time. I never tire of hearing it. Class tune!

The new LP, Living In Extraordinary Times is very, very good. Better than the previus record.

I havent bought the last 2 James albums in their entirity. I really wasnt liking what i was hearing from them, especially Girl album. THis latest one does seem to have slightly better tunes, but truth is, from the albums the band released, between 1990 and 2001, i feel happy that i have got all the James material i need.

I had missed this thread, great to see some James fans. Love this “show” they put out recently. The sound is awesome, you can pick out every instrument. I would have loved for U2 to do something like this during the pandemic. Could include some friends like Gavin Friday, Maire Brennan…

James just announced... an album where they will play old songs with an orchestra. Seems like everyone is doing it, now.

They also announced a show at Darlington with Editors and Maximo Park. I'm dying with envy regarding anyone lucky enough to go...

She's a star is available on Spotify. Goodness, not my cup of tea.

I thought U2 at the BBC in 2017 was exceptional, as was the recent show in Dublin in the Letterman documentary. But this version of "orchestral" is one step to far for me.

Im totally AGAINST this whole Orchestra project. Not interested in the Tour nor the album. Its broing and predictable. I think the shows with The Editors and Maximo Park will be "normal" James gigs (without Orchestra)

The only orchestral record / tour that I found successful was Peter Gabriel. It was really incredible.

James are touring in 2026. And i see they plan charging up to £180 for some seats at their shows. You know the music bizz is taking the utter p155, when this happens.
As much as i adore the band James, they havent really been relevant for most of this past quarter of a century.

Acts make their livings from touring now, not from record sales, and nostalgia sells.

Seats in the upper tier at the O2 in London are priced at £55 which seems reasonable to me.
