Died of cancer today. One of the great musicians in rock n roll. A true original that developed his own sound that was copied by many.

Iíve seen for myself, thereís no end to grief, thatís how I know, and why I need to know that there is no end to love

Cancer is evil.

It fucking is.  Kills ten million people year in year out.

RIP Eddie Van Halen

I remember him best for the song Jump and the guitar solo on MJ's Beat It.

Definitely the 2 biggest hits he played on.

When Van Halen 1 came out in Ď78, no one had ever heard anyone who played guitar like that. Amazing style and flair, but also some killer riffs and melodies.

His father was a concert pianist who also played multiple other instruments. Eddie inherited his fathers musical chops and won first place in all the Southern California piano contests he went into as a youth.

There were rumours last year all the original band were goi g to reunite for a tour but it was put on hold due to Eddieís health issues.

For the 1984 Tour, Eddie had asked that the speakers enclosures be painted white so people could see the woofers pump during the show. No other acts did that at the time. R.I.P.

I don't believe it. I just do not believe it. Eddie has been sick off and on since the year 2000, but has always been successful in managing his problems. I've seen him several times with Van Halen in concert and he has looked great, younger than his age, and seemed full of health. I knew he had some trouble recently, a downturn, but I was confident he would get back to full health and be out on the road again with Van Halen and possibly even a new Van Halen album in 2022. I'm shocked.

God Bless him, his family, friends, and Van Halen.

His death is bringing back some memories.

When I was a kid my family would drive down to California every year as we had family on my Moms side who lived there. I remember we went down one year with my Uncleís family. I would sit in the back of the van with my brothers and my 2 cousins, all older than me. On the ghetto blaster the band that was played the most by my teenage brothers and cousins was Van Halen. Biggest band in America in the early 80ís. My Dad would yell from the front to turn it down. Great times.
