Happy Birthday to STING, born October 2, 1951!

Yep, STING is 69 today! Still waiting for the pandemic to pass so he can do his first series of shows in Las Vegas. His first Las Vegas residency as opposed to just stopping there once or twice on a tour.

I have an enormous respect for Sting.

He’s written a lot of my favorite songs. I like the fact that his songwriting is so sophisticated.

I’m not a fan of everything he’s doing but I’m sure about one thing : he’s really passionate about playing music.

Kudos to him.

Sting was almost a God to me back in the 80’s. The Police were my number 1 band, before U2 came to me. I also enjoyed his solo albums immensely, up to the end of the 90’s I would say.

In ‘83, I “bumped” into him back stage at the Big O. Surreal moment and most amazing concert experience on my life, later that night.

The "Big O"? Do you mean Olympic Stadium in Montreal? That show was actually on August 3, 1983. What were you doing back stage at a Police concert at that time?

Yes, correct. My memory playing games. Fixed.

Thanks wons.

Oh, and for your other question. It’s a long story and great one too, for that particular day. As for going backstage at rock concerts, it was common for me back then, as my dad was in the business.

I doubt the interview was “live”, though.

If it was video taped, there is a good chance its out there.

From what I recall, 1983 was in the beginnings of MTV. We didn’t have access to that channel on cable TV in Canada, but I had heard a lot about the channel on the news, etc... I was really surprised to see them there. But it was a big show, with 3 opening acts, big venue, etc... And arguably the biggest band on the planet at the time.

So they played the Spectrum on 8/2 then The Big O 8/3, that's interesting.
