I'm reminded of Larry's quote regarding PopMart.  "We're doing the same thing, it's just the wrapping is different."  The 90's were just that way (ZOO TV and PopMart) and it made enough sense within that context and timeframe.  Wish I had experienced both tours live as they just can't be replicated in that same way again.  They were a specific moment in time.

JFC? Really?

Sorry about that, will edit if you want but it will reset the poll.

It's a saying on the Irish side of my family, like "Jaysus Mary and Joseph."

JFC? Really?

I was a teenager at the time trying to convince my friends that this band was awesome. Then Adam comes out dressed like...whatever that was supposed to be.

Game over.

It wasn't cool. It wasn't deep. It was just dumb as shit.

The Bono bubble outfit actually looked good on stage, and Edge's black cowboy outfit would have been cool without the fake muscle shirt.  Larry shouldn't even have bothered with the bare minimal effort.

The difference is that ZooTV looked cool, and PopMart looked like an idea which probably should have been stopped in the brainstorming phase.

i did not know till a few years ago they were supposed to be.......action figures? is that right? i never got confirmation on that. i dont get how any of them were action figures outside of Bono being a boxer and i GUESS Larry was an army man?

That might... make some sense?

It's Adam's outfit that always confounded me the most - not even offended, just confounded. This idea doesn't totally explain it but maybe a little?

The Village People stuff fits that too. And Porno Cowboy Edge. (I LOVE his outfit during the Grand Entrance, sue me).

Bono did look too old for his hoodie look but the bubble outfit seemed fine to me. The muscle shirt seems like an action figure, the boxer as well.

It could fit reasonably with the consumerist, media-oriented theme. Pick an action figure. Identify with it. Use it as your avatar. Ignore what you really are, just get your plastic surgery and muscles and Obsession perfume and focus on the surfce stuff. Chew bubble gum.

Cowboy Edge...be still, my heart! And, I thought Adam looked funky-cool.

That's fair.  At the end of the day, I'd prefer it to be about the music.  I guess something more is needed though with the exclusively stadium tours like PopMart and 360 in particular.
