Rank the Rockers?

IMO, since Discotheque, each album has had a tune that shared some of the same genes in an attempt to fill some vision of a rock song on the album.  There may be debate on a few, but here is my take, un-ranked, your mileage may vary..

Discotheque
Elevation
Vertigo
GOYB
The Miracle
American Soul

My rank best to least best

Discotheque
Vertigo
Elevation
GOYB
American Soul
The Miracle

Now your turn.  If you wish to replace a few with your "rockers" from these albums, have at it.

To my mind, LNOE is the rocker on Pop.  That's probably why I find it the least interesting song on the album.

if we are only going from pop onward, and the songs of a similar vein, then i suppose

Discotheque
Vertigo
Elevation
The Miracle
GOYB

if i were allowed to make substitutes for other rocking songs that didn't sound like they are all first distant cousins, then

discotheque
magnificent
red flag day
cedarwood road
vertigo
elevation
white dopes on punk ~ staring into the flash `*+'"##

I don't think Discotheque belongs on that list.

Elevation
Vertigo
American Soul
GOYB

If I rank The Miracle based on how pleasing it is to the ear, I put it under Vertigo. If I rank it based on the damage it does to my soul, it goes under Boots.

The rockiest song of that era is Mofo.

Yes it has some window dressing, but deep down it's one of their hardest rocking songs of their entire catalog.

“Albums still matter,” he said to the crowd of pop star and music luminaries. “Like books and black lives"

It belongs in the group of songs genetically related to Vertigo, Boots, and American Soul?

I don't see how.

I don't even consider it a rocker. A dance tune to my ears.

Well, maybe it's not related to those other songs, but it is a rocker...at least in my house!

Best to least best:

The Miracle
Discotheque
Vertigo
Get On Your Boots
Elevation
American Soul

There's a big gap between the top three and bottom three songs though.  Actually, the majority of the other songs mentioned in this thread would replace The Miracle at the top of my list.

Here's my ranking of post-Pop rockers. I'd probably rank all or most of the rockers from the 90s above any of these though.

Vertigo
Xanax and Wine
No Line On the Horizon 2
Volcano
Lucifer's Hands
Red Flag Day
The Miracle
Cedarwood Road
Get On Your Boots
All Because of You
The Blackout
Love and Peace
Elevation
Stand Up Comedy
Raised By Wolves
American Soul

Should New York and Lights from Home be included? They're half-rockers to me.

The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
