I hope people rate these songs using the band's entire body of work as the criterion.

10.

Probably their best recording since the 90's. Done in one take I may add.

Brian Eno has called it the most amazing studio experience of his entire career.

The song was played only once and received minor treatments afterwards, with the addition of a cello part in the introduction and some editing, which included removing a verse to reduce the song's length. Eno was outraged that U2 wanted to shorten the song, and he was adamant that the band not alter the original track too much, saying, "These fucking guys, they're supposed to be so spiritual—they don't spot a miracle when it hits them in the face. Nothing like that ever happened to me in the studio in my whole life."

10, best song of the 2000s
There's a bible verse,
says the last one shall be first.
Well, if that verse is true,
there's hope for me and you.

gave it an 8. I like the song a fair bit!
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world
