The Joshua Tree - Song Elimination FINAL
« on: September 06, 2020, 01:10:14 AM »
Vote for what you think is the WORST song on the album, and each round the song with the most votes will be removed, eventually giving us a ranking of the songs on The Joshua Tree.

If there is a clear winner and at least 15 votes after a day, I will end the poll there and say what song was eliminated in an edit to this post.  If it's tied or very close or there are under 15 votes after a day, I will let the poll run longer.

Ranking:

1. Where the Streets Have No Name
2. With or Without You (51.5%, 17 votes)
3. Running to Stand Still (47.8%, 11 votes)
4. Red Hill Mining Town (39.3%, 11 votes)
5. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (47.8%, 11 votes)
6. One Tree Hill (36.4%, 8 votes)
7. Bullet the Blue Sky (32%, 8 votes)

I went with Red Hill Mining Town.  I adore this song.  The vocals are stunning, and it's really catchy.  It's great, but this is The Joshua Tree.

I look at the songs listed and the one that jumps out at me (this will surprise many im sure) is Still Havent Found. Not a bad tune, its just i prefer the others over it.
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

I get that, actually. Even though that's the song that converted me.

It may get my vote in round 3.

Of all the versions of the song that there have been, my fave versions were the live versions from the Original JT tour and the Zoo TV live versions. They were such raw and soulful performances.

I don't get Still Haven't Found getting votes this early.  The production on that track is absolutely stunning.  It's a pretty unique song in their catalog due to the gospel flavor.  It's also one of the best choruses they ever wrote, maybe the best.  It was one of the songs that hooked me on this band and is still one of my top 5 U2 songs ever.

It's criminal for Mothers of the Disappeared to be this close to elimination in round one.

Trip Through Your Wires is the obvious throwaway track of the album. I'll be shocked if it doesn't fetch more votes soon.

I agree. It's one of the best songs on the album, not the worst.
