Should Danger Mouse and U2 get back together again?
« on: August 28, 2020, 05:22:26 AM »
Because what Danger Mouse did with Sam Cohen's latest album is some spacey, blues-rock sh*t U2 could easily attempt these days..

Please could Danger Mouse produce the next U2 album? I want to hear a U2-infusion of this.

Covid-19 had allowed me to catch up on the newer music world from the past year, including producer Danger Mouse's most recent projects Kiwanuka and Future's Still Ringing In My Ears. They are both great listens.

Kiwanuka which Burton (aka Danger Mouse) produced and co-wrote last year was labelled the best record of 2019 by multiple critics and legitimate contender for album of the decade.

If U2 ever got back with Danger Mouse to make another album, this time they should really let him produce the whole album himself. And allow him to have writing credits because that's the space he thrives, the fully-involved collaboration. I could only see it working if U2 approached it in a similar way to NLOTH, where on that occasion they allowed Eno and Lanois to take full control of the artistic direction.

I'm pretty certain that on SOI the likes of Tedder and Epworth left only left Sleep Like A Baby Tonight and The Troubles unspoiled - and those were the two best tracks on the album by far!

It's a crying shame that.. SLABT was a late-career gem and showed that U2 still had it in them to produce spectacular results given proper direction and encouragement from right producers to get outside their comfort zone.

It bloody hurts too, SLABT was a late-career gem and showed that U2 still had it in them to produce spectacular results given proper direction and encouragement from right producers to get outside their comfort zone.

Agreed.

Thing is look how u2 treated SLABT....have they played it live?....Was it promoted when album was promoted?

Was it fuck - but turds like The Miracle get the full push.....says it all about u2 now.

There was a member at the other u2 forum some of us were/are members of who had a line into Danger Mouse - and from conversations with that person I would say the chances of u2 and him working together again are extremely remote.

Should Danger Mouse work with U2?  :'(

That says it best.

Excited to check out those tunes, restofit. Not sure why I haven't followed Danger Mouse after the success of SLABT.

Dark Night of The Soul with Mark Linkous remains the most underrated piece he's done.

This track is simply breathtaking with quality headphones & is a must listen for any DM fan:

I listened to all of these. I think the first in particular, Spinning Love, lends credence to the idea that U2 could sound pretty great with him.

And they have. SLABT, obviously, but I think Reach Me Now kicks ass as well.
