Fav song from each tour
« on: July 29, 2020, 12:37:54 AM »
For each tour, list the song that stood out for you most in terms of its live performance (in general or specific).

The song does not need to be from the album the tour supports.

The song doesn't have to be an overall favorite song.

But it will be a song that just really came across well live in some way or another, or you like how they reworked it or whatever.

My list:
Boy - Out of Control
October - Gloria
War - 11 O'Clock Tick Tock
The Unforgettable Fire - Not sure, actually.
The Joshua Tree - Streets
Lovetown - SBS
Zoo - just one? RTSSFlyMysteriousWaysBulletLemonDesireDaddyTTTUltraviolet, I guess. If I had to pick one.
PopMart - Miami
Elevation - UTEOTW
Vertigo - I dunno. I've barely heard anything from this period.
360 - The Unforgettable Fire
I+E - Iris
TJT30 - Exit
E+I - Acrobat or 13

It's very hard to pick just one...

Boy - Electric Co
October - Gloria
War - Gloria, 40
The Unforgettable Fire - The Unforgettable Fire
The Joshua Tree - Streets
Lovetown - Hawkmoon, God Part II
Zoo - same answer as laoghaire, with Ultraviolet & Morleigh #1, Dirty Day, Love Is Blindness
PopMart - Do You Feel Loved, Velvet Dress, Mofo, oh there are too many to list
Elevation - UTEOTW
Vertigo - Miracle Drug
360 - Ultraviolet, Stay, Stuck
I+E - The Miracle Of Joey Ramone, Electric Co, The Troubles
TJT30 - Streets, that long intro holy shit save my soul! Ultraviolet (because it's the first time I saw it live)
E+I - Gloria (because it's the first time I saw it live), Love Is Bigger

Iíve seen for myself, thereís no end to grief, thatís how I know, and why I need to know that there is no end to love

Lahogaire, not sure if you're tongue in cheek but they never played SBS on Lovetown...

My pick :

BOY : Touch
OCTOBER : Tomorrow
WAR : Two Hearts Beat as one
TUF : Bad
JT : Exit
Lovetown : All along the watchtower
ZOO : Love is blindness
PopM : Please
Elevation : Bullet the blue sky
Vertigo : Miss Sarajevo
360 : Unforgettable fire
I+E : Bullet the blue sky
JT17 : Exit
E+I : 13 there is a light
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

I didn't choose one for TUF, and Bad was the obvious choice, but the couple of performances I heard weren't what I considered the best. But, duh, WAIA was from then and that was a really solid performance (ASOH too).

I find Bad somewhat lacking on the album. ASOH isn't lacking, but the two live WAIA cuts kind of flesh out those songs.

WAIA's ASOH is falsely "live", remember? A soundcheck recording, with crowd noise added in production. Still very good, though.

Fine.

It was still 4 guys playing simultaneously in one take.

How can a band playing a song, whatever the context, not be live? Thatís just silly.

What gives human life it's worth anyway? Because someone loves it? Or hates it? The flesh is weak, only the soul is immortal.

I never noticed that before - just went back and looked at the video for it and sure enough - no shots of the crowd.

Never followed the tours so closely as to be able to answer this for each tour, but i will say that on 360 the fact they brought UV back into the fold and highlighted it towards the end of the show was pretty cool.  Always loved that song and thought it was underappreciated.

Me too - just a shame about the laser-light outfit - that definitely wasn't a fit for the song.
