So let's take this back the other way for some of the more senior members.

1989.

A very good year.

Album of the year - Disintegration by the Cure

Song of the year is a tie.

Pictures of You - The Cure
The Downtown Lights - The Blue Nile

Great idea! Are we going backwards?

My pick for 1989: Tom Petty - Free Fallin’

The album Full Moon Fever was great all around.

Yes we are going backwards.

Both in this thread and as a nation.

Best album of 1989, for me, is............Acadie by Daniel Lanois. I had it in my head that the album came out in 1987ish

Shout out goes to The Stone Roses, for their amazing debut album.

My favorite album would probably go to Doolittle by The Pixies. "Deep Dark Truthful Mirror" by Elvis Costello takes my top spot for best song.

This was a damn good year. With major props paid to the mammoth 1-2 punch that ended Kate Bush's The Sensual World - "This Woman's Work" and "Rocket's Tail," Soundgarden's "Hands All Over," and especially Peter Murphy's "Cuts You Up," I gotta give it to Public Enemy's "Fight The Power."
