(sorry if Iím a bit late...)

So we are almost done, tomorrow will be the last of these.  :-\

For 2019, Iím giving the shout to the younger generation, from an artist that my 26yo daughter holds in very high esteem, Lana Del Ray. Her last album, Norman Fucking Rockwell! was arguably the best of the year. Fantastic songwriting all around.

The Greatest is the song Iím choosing.

First Chair. Last Call.

Maximum respect to Tool and Opeth, who each released epic albums last year full of great songs, but 2019 was all about me finding the music of a whole new generation of Latin American artists. It's killing me to not post "Fear Inoculum" and "Dignity" alongside my choice, but anyone who's seen what I've been posting in the Song A Day thread since February of last year won't be surprised in the least by this pick.

"Chilango Blues" - Mon Laferte

Known as "the year I rediscovered music"... and to celebrate this I'll share a few songs :

Bright Horses - Nick Cave

Je ne sais pas danser - Pomme

Oui, it's a french song but if you're not touched by her voice you have no soul. Or no ears.

For Everything - The Murder Capital

Just for the change of tone at the end of the song.

Unshaken - D'Angelo

Souvenirs of "Red Dead Redemption" (produced by Danny Lanois)

In the blank space - Josin

Here comes the river - Patrick Watson

A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

First time I heard Pomme on the radio here (it was on a cultural show on Radio-Canada, the public broadcaster) I thought it was Zaz!

Bruce Springsteen- Western Stars

Beautiful song about a fading actor in Hollywood. The album was influenced by the west coast scene of the 60ís/early 70ís; Burt Bacherat, Glen Campbell, etc..The setting is L.A, the desert, Arizona...
Definitive U2 Top 10: 1. One, 2. Bad, 3. With Or Without You, 4. Running to Stand Still, 5. So Cruel, 6. Ultraviolet, 7. I Still Havenít Found What Iím Looking For, 8. Hawkmoon 269, 9. Red Hill Mining Town, 10. Luminous Times
