Posted this in the other thread:

I’m another who doesn’t want the Zoo TV nostalgia tour. At this point they really can’t do it justice.

Now if they decided to completely re-imagine the show I could be on board. Strip some of those songs down, punk some of them up, etc...then it could work. Same with the show, you can’t top Zoo TV so go in the other direction. But a show like this would be more for an arena, not a stadium, so we’ll likely get U2 in their 60’s with the full stadium spectacle, singing song versions similar to the records that they really can’t do that well anymore. Just hope Bono leaves the leather at home.

By the time they do it they'll be mid-60s. No thanks.
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

I'm not sure it's a good idea, but I'd see it, and maybe we'd get a more experimental album out of it.

i see this argument every time a band does a nostalgia-album-specific tour. that it will reignite their creative mojo.

it never does.

I agree. Better to go in a new direction. They tried to go back to their 80's sound and we got ATYCLB.

Until Bono broadens his lyrical outlook they'll continue to travel a line straight down tbe middle of the road.

an tha is right. its the lyrics that hold U2 back from greatness. as is the case with most bands that can't do shit after their golden years. phoning it in.

godamnit i hate that they'll probably do this. and that ill prob end up going to hear the 4 songs off AB i havent heard live yet.

I like the lyrics of Red Flag Day, Little Things, and Summer of Love quite a bit.

They kinda did it at the iHearts Radio gig in Vegas a few years ago with Desire. I thought it was fantastic, but the rest of the gig didn't go down too well (half the audience left).

Never heard this, this is pretty good actually.  I wish he'd switch back to "fever, when I'm beside her" though...
