30 years, 30 songs, in 30 days - 2014
« on: June 28, 2020, 12:03:05 AM »
2014 brought me an album that I will cherish for the rest of my life, Lost in the Dream by The War on Drugs.

I donít want to repeat again what Iíve said in the past about this gem, so you can go and read about it here: https://forum.talku2.com/index.php?topic=3430.msg182073#msg182073

The song Iím nominating is the opening track on the album, Under the Pressure.

First Chair. Last Call.

2014 not a bad year....

Royal Blood released Royal Blood and from it "Figure it Out" and "Out of the Black" get a shout here.

Interpol released El Pintor - "My Blue Supreme" is the shout here.

St Vincent by St Vincent - "Regret" my nomination for recognition here.

Manic Street Preachers - Futurology...not an album i rate highly but "Europa Geht Durch Mich" is a belter.

Thom Yorke released Tomorrows Modern Boxes - "The Mother Lode" the standout.

Sharon Van Etten  - Are We There "I know" from it is one i love.

Honeyblood released Honeyblood and "Choker" was so close to being my pick as song of 2014.

In the end though my pick for 2014 goes to Swans and from their album To Be Kind - "She Loves Us"......17 minutes of sheer bliss!!

SHE LOVES US - SWANS

From Yes' last album (so far). The album as a whole gets a lot of crap, maybe rightfully so, but I like this song a lot.
Or is it now?

Lots of killer music this year; in the end, this came down to "Cedarwood Road," "The Troubles," and Zola Jesus' "Dangerous Days." Sorry, Troubles.

@kango: any song from LITD is worthy.

@ImaginaryFriend: it was very difficult for me to leave out Crystal Ballroom and The Troubles...
