Sad to hear of the passing of Ian Holm. He was aged 88. He was famous for his roles in Alien (the mad robot fella), The Hobbit, Lord Of The Rings, Chariots Of Fire

I prefer The Thing (1982).

I primarily knew him for The Borrowers because of how much I enjoyed that series as a kid. It was very well done technically and I remember reading it got Steven Spielberg's attention. He contacted the makers to query how they achieved some effects.

He was very good in the 5th Element, too.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Alien is a bona-fide classic.

I was surprised when I read Holm fled theatre for 14 years due to debilitating stage fright. Director Peter Jackson wrote an eloquent eulogy, his mother had Parkinson's.
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.
