30 years, 30 songs, in 30 days - 2005

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I had a serious addiction issue with a certain band in the 2000-2010 decade. X&Y was the most anticipated album for me in many years. I was completely obsessed with it. Funny thing is I hardly listen to it these days.

Talk was my favorite. Band is Coldplay, btw.

(Fun fact: I had purchased tickets for the tour that year, but couldnít make it in the end. Sold the tickets with a huge profit...  :D )

Can't be bothered with usual listing a few before picking my winner.

2005 saw the release of an album so much better than everything else that year, that it deserves the spotlight alone.

Album: The Woods
Artist: Sleater Kinney
Song: Entertain

Contains one of my favourite lyrics ever:

You come around looking 1984
You're such a bore, 1984
Nostalgia, well you're using it like a whore
It's better than before, oh it's better than before
You come around sounding 1972
You did nothing new, 1972
Where's the "fuck You"?
Where's the black and blue?
Where's the black and blue?
Where's the black and blue?

Idlewild's "El Capitan" takes it, just ahead of my all-time fave NIN single, "The Hand That Feeds." Damn, I wish the outro of this song would go on forever.   💖💖💖💖💖

Tough year...

Thereís ę what if Ľ this Coldplay song that I had in my head when we did and echo to learn that we were expecting a girl.

Thereís the first Editors and Bloc Party albums. Very consistent pieces of work. Statements.

I almost voted ę Looking for astronauts Ľ from the National but Iím confident Iím gonna pick them later.

So my vote goes out to...

Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz

Super clever tune.

A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Based on the single release, I've got to pick this as my number 1:
