30 years, 30 songs, in 30 days - 2003

Continuing on with my decade long fixation on Coldplay, I’m putting forward the ominous Clocks for 2003, even if that’s cheating a little (well, the single was released in 2003 in Europe, so it kinda counts.)

A Rush of Blood to the Head was on heavy rotation for me during the whole year, and although Clocks is arguably not the best song on the record (that would be Politik), it is the one that drove my « passion » (hugh...) for these new kids on the block back then.

(Fun Fact: I’ve been known to dabble occasionally into U2 remixes, but I’ve never heard a single remix of Clocks, and there’s quite a few out there....)

Butterflies & Hurricanes - Muse

Sums up everything they are (were) good at.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Highlights of 03.

The White Stripes released Elephant and from it Black Math was the standout for me and came close to taking the nod here...

Sleeping with Ghosts by Placebo was an uneven affair but Protect Me From What I Want or 'Protege Moi' as the even better French language version was called is a belter.

Hail to the Thief from Radiohead - Go to Sleep the standout.

Room on Fire by The Strokes - Reptilia is one of the coolest slabs of rock n roll you will ever hear....if you never have then do!

Top the shop in 03 though comes from Yeah Yeah Yeahs overrated IMO debut album Fever to Tell.....there is though nothing overrated about the song Maps from it....a quite stunning piece and my runaway winner for 2003.

Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Kristy returns to my top spot, this time on her own and not collaborating with Delerium or anyone else.

Dead serious, tomorrow looks like a 4-way tie for me right now. No way it'll be less than a 2-way.
