Did anyone else notice the muck-up the Edge does here?
« on: June 11, 2020, 05:09:49 AM »

For some reason I'm unable to time-stamp this..

Go to exactly 3:00 in and listen to the guitar, you'll notice the muck-up the Edge makes near end of that pre-chorus. Don't think it's an actual mistake? Listen to the same pre-chorus earlier in the track:

"Old man says that we never listen
We shout about what we don't know
We're taking the path of most resistance
The only way for us to go"

How on earth did the band let that blunder slip through? For an album they spent 5 years trying to get perfect, how do you miss something as obvious and in-your-face as that?

Sorry, can't hear anything wrong there. Sounds perfect to me. You know, you can play differently at various points in a song, you don't have to repeat the same thing on every chorus/verse/prechorus.   :o

There's no mucking muck-up.  ;)
Sometimes I’m full of anger and grieving, so far away from believing that any sun will reappear

It's a sound effect. He used the same kind in Discothèque.

You remind me of a customer when I was selling CDs. The guy was furious because there was an explosion sound on his Beastie Boys CD. It took a good 15 minutes for him to accept that it was intentional, not a defect.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

The OP is allowed a mistake. Have you never made a mistake?
What gives human life it's worth anyway? Because someone loves it? Or hates it? The flesh is weak, only the soul is immortal.

Reminds me of the discussion about MOS when NLOTH came out, as it clearly sounds like there's some sort of audio problem with the drums when the song begins to kick in. Sometimes the layers of production can make it difficult to discern what's an effect and what could be a genuine mistake.

Mistake or not - music IMO does not need to be perfect anyway....little imperfections are no problem at all to me.

Is American Soul one big mistake or an intentional misfire?

Well, your comment is ironic since the OP doesn’t seem to think U2 are allowed a mistake... even when they’re not making one.

Let this sink in...

By the way, I was telling a story, not insulting anyone.
