The Morning After Innocence eventually turned into Little Things.

The Morning After Innocence eventually turned into Little Things.

Correct, but this is clearly a completely different song and bears no resemblance to Little Things whatsoever.

Listen to it, completely different song.

Absolutely. I think 2 songs/demos were merged to produce Little Things.

Why does Cedarwood Road, and particularly Edge, sound better in this clip than the final studio cut?
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

Because it was before 35 producers took a shot at it.  ;D

I remember hearing this years back. Not much to go off of, unfortunately. Just a little Bongolese and jamming.

What amazes me is how impertinent Edge's commentary in the first half of the video seems to be with SOI. It's unbelievable how much merit he gives to popist crap.

I don’t see how that is Little Things in any way, shape, or form.

Bono is a bit vague here, but that’s what he said:

On September 20, 2016, Bono appeared on the Charlie Rose show, and they spoke about a song called “The Little Things That Give You Away.” During the interview Bono speaks about writing letters to Ali, to his kids, and to the U2 audience, inspired by the poet Brendan Kennelly who one advised him to write as if he were dead. Bono said he realized he was writing one of those letters to himself, and that song is “The Little Things That Give You Away.” Rose follows that discussion with a question about another U2 title he has heard, asking “ There’s one called, The Morning After Innocence?” Bono’s reply ties that song back to “The Morning After Innocence”:

« Ah, yes. That’s kind of the theme of it. It’s changed. Funny that you should — that’s odd. I told you about that and I shouldn’t have. And that song, “The Morning After Innocence,” turns into “The Little Things That Give You Away” which I’ve just told you there.«

Although perhaps a bit vague, from that statement, it appears that the song “The Morning After Innocence” has become “The Little Things That Give You Away”. If so the lyrics have undergone a big rewrite, as the lyrics between the two songs are quite different.
