Story is that Bono was reprimanded severely by the band and McGuiness after this one. It was one thing if he wanted to put himself at risk, but something completely different putting the audience at risk. There were concerns that structures could be compromised and possibly fall on people if he continued with those types of stunts. Also, throwing the flagpole into the audience the way he did could've really hurt someone.
Amazing energy, though. His performance style on that tour was so athletically driven, fearless and open hearted. That killer combination of factors is why I became a fan. My dad used to play the Red Rocks video when I was a little kid for weird reasons (Christianity stuff, don't ask

), but I was just blown away by the other stuff. I'd still rank them as the best high intensity band ever.
