Late Night Talk Show Hosts

So riffing off another thread about how bad some of these folks are, and aren't really "funny" anymore.  Rank your late night talk show hosts including former hosts like Carson et al.  I don't really know how many there are out there as I'm not an expert, but lets say a maximum of 10, best to worst.

GO!

I used to watch Parkinson.  I also used to watch the Phil Donahue Show when it was aired here in the late 1980s.

I occasionally watch the Graham Norton Show but it all depends on the kind of guests he has on.

Not old enough for Carson.

1. Conan
2. Letterman
3. Colbert
4. Ferguson

...

5. Kimmel
6. Fallon
7. Corden

The bottom three suck. Corden is insufferable, though I liked him a bit for his first few months on the block. Afterwards, when he blew up on YouTube, his Carpool Karaoke and other celeb-obsessed shit started dominating the show. Fallon is obnoxious. Kimmel is dull.

Carson was the pinnacle of the classic late night talk show host.
Then Letterman changed everything.
The End.

You're right, James Corden is an insufferable twad.

Even worse since he wormed his way into film and advert roles.  :-\

His car share thing with Paul McCartney was pretty good, though obviously that was more to do with McCartney than fat boy.

The only LNTS I ever watched with anything approaching regularity was Arsenio Hall. All the rest of them, I'd tune in near the end just to see the guest band play. The first time I ever saw Letterman was the night REM made their TV debut. Didn't see his show again for years after that.
