Virtual U2 Concerts Is this what's next?

Will we no longer have the live experience of seeing and meeting others enjoying U2?

There will be gigs with a crowd again and it will happen well inside u2's lifespan as a touring act.

Well, we already have YouTube, which is where I've seen every U2 concert that I've seen, but one. And I get a better view.

But I'd give them all up for another live experience.

Wouldn't be the same for the band either, I can't even see them wanting to do it without a live audience. What would be the point?

I think we'll get back to "normal", but it may take awhile. I'm more concerned they may decide to social distance from each other permanently instead of working on a new album. I'm close to retirement age myself; the longer this shutdown goes on, the more attractive never going back to work becomes.......  :-\

Drive in Concerts

Someone was seriously suggesting that, somewhere. But again ... what would the band get out of it? I guess we could all honk our horns along to the beat.... :D

I think the best solution is to issue everyone a hamster ball, including the band. They might have to make an extra big one for Larry and all his equipment, but I'm confident it can be done. And I bet Bono would love it, he could bounce all over the stage and not get hurt.

Bono mentioned the idea of drive in concerts in passing during the RTE Radio 1 interview with Ryan Tubridy.

He said the band could do a live stream from their homes, which is projected onto a big screen in a drive in concert area.

So one of two things will happen here:
People sit in their cars through the show, nodding their heads to the beat.
People get out their cars and dance around them yelling every word of the song whilst punching the air. Because some, no - many, U2 fans can't stand still for 2 hours staring at the stage.

I'd be well tempted to buy an old banger for the drive in U2 show. I don't want to knock the wing mirrors off a decent car, nor trash the interior in a fit of exuberant response to the Streets intro!
One love, One blood, One life;
You got to do what you should.
One life; With each other
Sisters, Brothers
One life; But we're not the same
We get to carry each other, Carry each other
