The Verified Process was and is of course a fraud for fans
« on: November 15, 2017, 03:56:35 PM »
Hello All,

As I write this, I was able to get tickets for the Atlanta show so I am not in the position to bitch about not getting tickets for myself and my daughter.  I also purchased seats for the show because my daughter and I went to JT Washington DC with GA and she could not see for half of the show because she is 5'6" so I promised her if we went again I would get seats. I also bought the expensive ones, but I still had money saved from not being able to go to the Innocence Tour in 2015.  I want to write this because after reading all of the experience people and possibly even more innocence people getting screwed because of "verification" and different "fandom ratings" I am totally disgusted by this for true U2 Fans.  I went to three secondary dealers and I was able to find at least 300 GA tickets available for sale for a minimum of 3 times the presale price.  All other sections were available for about the 3X-5X face value.  This whole system was flawed and I don't think U2 cares enough to really CHANGE how its done.  I don't really see how all of us having to jump through all of these hoops changed anything.  I don't remember Innocence being this bad, not even the Vertigo screw-up.  I have an algorithm for Ticketmaster/Live Nation Right here.

If I understood correctly, the intent was to make sure fans got the tickets and not the scalpers.  I think the intent was good, but the execution of it was bad.  Plus, I'm not sure in this day and age that you can completely keep tickets out of scalpers hands.  So what is the solution?  I have no idea.
I feel my luck could change.

The easiest and simplest way to stop scalpers is to not to buy from them

It's so very simple. If fans stopped buying them then there is no business.

Have you seen/heard that Stub Hub is emailing people who purchased tickets with instructions and advice in how to sell unwanted tickets BACK to Stub Hub????

Yeah, my dad hasn't done that yet. Will it be required to purchase tickets?

So I was sitting here thinking about this, don’t ticket bots just put random numbers in until they match a code? So how would controlling who gets the code matter?

Why can't they just make it so they print our names on the tickets.  Then show ID at the gate to show you're the one that bought the ticket.  Scalpers wouldn't be able to sell tickets now would they?

I used my Husband credit card so it would have his name? But he is going with me so it would still work

When I saw Radiohead in April we had to meet up with the original buyers at the arena so they could show their ID to the attendant before handing over the tix to us. It's not rocket science, this scalper problem is easily fixable. U2 just doesn't want to fix it.

I consider myself lucky that I was in the experience group and did get a code. I was able to buy a ticket to two shows.

It was stated very clearly that there was no guarantee that you would receive a code. What is crappy is that people received an email saying they were selected to get a code but then received another email saying they were mistakenly sent the email.

The band is not aware of what's going on. Guy O Seary might be but he won't respond just like how he won't address the GA issue. To them, verified fan was a trade off for getting rid of Credit Card Entry.

I live in Asia and not going to any of the concerts announced but did get an email that they couldn't send something to me on the phone number I registered and asking me to do something else as a result. Am curious if this just wasn't set up for people with phone numbers outside of the US. Havent paid much attention at this stage as not interested in these concerts but it all seems to be harder than it needs to be.

I don't buy that. U2 know exactly what is going on and if they don't they're just as complicit.

They signed the mega bucks live nation deal and took the cash.

This was never, ever about scalping or touting. Never.
