Lars Ullrich on his chance to Jam with Bono/Edge:

"I'm like, 'This is my chance to drum in U2 with Bono and The Edge. And I start building up the courage. I'm standing at the back hoping nobody will see me and I'm going to start walking up and right as I start this other guy is five feet ahead of me and walks up and I can't see who it is," Ulrich said (transcription via Rolling Stone). "And then he goes up and sits behind the drum kit up there and it's Paul McCartney. I say, 'Wait a minute. I'm supposed to play drums in U2. That was my shot!' Then I ran screaming out of there and haven't been back since"

Can I quote Henry Rollins?

‘U2, in particular, bug me because it’s like such a bad rhythm section. They’re kind of a one-trick band that’s propped up by really good production. I do applaud Bono’s humanitarian efforts; getting third-world debt acknowledged, trying to help AIDS in Africa and lending awareness to that. I think that’s great and I’m sure he contributes a lot of his own money to that. That stuff is also great because it keeps him out of the studio, so there’s no downside to this.’ [source U2log]

The only time I have ever heard Bono badmouth another musician (anyone really) was Phil Collins, and that troublemaker Adam Clayton egged him on.

Plumbers are smart, clever, awesome people, I'm proud to stand with them.

Have only met one bricklayer, an old retired guy who just did small jobs to keep himself busy. He was building a wall around my parents' flowerbed; he found out I was an artist and we ended up having quite a conversation about art. The next day he brought some of HIS paintings to share. A cool guy. An excellent bricklayer too.
