Lift us up
« on: April 09, 2020, 11:55:40 PM »
What are some of the things about U2 that you love? Could be a lyric, a performance, a joke, a quote, the band's interactions with fans or each other... when has U2 made you feel inspired? Thoughtful? Amused, proud, comforted, energized, selfless, enlightened, adventurous, joyful....?

Lift us up.
Are you tough enough to be kind?

I'll go first: from Rattle & Hum, the crowd's response to Pride, and the band's response to the crowd. Unity. Still thrills me to the core.

There's a lot.

Will start, randomly, with Hallelujah at the end of RTSS RDS August 28, 1993.

And, I'll have to add...when I finally got to hear Streets live...at my first SOI show, with my guy standing next to me...it made me feel alive.

And, at JT30, the long, long intro to Streets

I guess, Streets.  :)

Lift-off happened to me in 1983 when I heard the first notes of SBS.

Been in orbit ever since.  8)

It's often U2 that reminds me there really is love in the world.....

"Through thick and thin he's always been there for me. Always." Larry, on Bono.

Streets Tempe can even be broken down into many moments.

The red dawn.

Larry clicking the sticks - the electricity in the air before the storm hits.

The Notes from the Edge, to the strobe lights.

The moment when the house lights come up. Holy smokes.

Many other moments in there but those are the heart attack moments.

I don't know what to call it. Heart pounding moments, maybe. I do feel it physically, even just watching it on a screen for the millionth time.

Yeah, that's beautiful. That sums up a lot.

Like Everyone else there are a lot of moments......

for me having been baptized to war then moving forward with a brief stop to pick up boy it wasn't until No line that I went back and discovered October the toddler to what no line became and to this day when I need to find my center and myself to always come back to Scarlet. The drum lead in is epic.
Don't want to be a pain
Don't wanna stay the same
