U2 producers from the last two album cycles (poll)
« on: March 22, 2020, 04:58:18 AM »
This is more revealing than anything - it shows that U2 have used 10 producers over the last two album cycles. 10 Bloody producers.. can you believe that?

It's not really necessary at all. They done it simply because they can - As the biggest band in the world they can throw their money at any amount of producers it takes to complete an album. As Bono said 'it takes an entire village to make a U2 album'. It's an interesting and chaotic process to say the least..

Well I know who is going to win this.

I can vite but I'm a little shy because in very few cases can I honestly say I understand any particular producer's input in a given song, when there are so many cooks in the kitchen.

I know what I'm hearing when I listen for Lanois or Eno. But I don't know what to credit or blame this list of guys for in a lot of cases.

I do know one guy to give credit to, though.

Yeah, same, I don't know enough about what a producer does to have any insight into this.

Eno's influence on Unforgettable Fire was unmistakable, but was that because he was the producer, or because he was also a musician with ideas of his own? Don't know, can't say.
Are you tough enough to be kind?

Not that I disagree (I don't) but I not allowing single answers, the poll says you have to pick 3!

Can you edit the poll so I can revote?

Are there any other examples of a major act using so many producers on a record/s?

Maybe time to get Batman and Robin back? I honestly can't pick from the above. It seems to me that the producers had zero impact on the work.

Somhow, I have a feeling the remixes have nothing to do with the vote, but nonetheless, you are making progress, young padawan.  ;D

I've heard good things about Paul Epworth. I liked his work with Bloc Party and the Skyfall soundtrack.
