Radiohead's 'The Bends' turns 25
« on: March 13, 2020, 11:37:47 AM »
25 years ago today Radiohead released their second album 'The Bends'.

It's one of my favorite albums and is the reason I became a Radiohead fan.  I don't think there is bad song on it and enjoy it as much today as when it first came out.
I feel my luck could change.

Seems to be the latest thread about Radiohead so will use this (surprised there isn't just a 'Radiohead' thread!)

Anyway good little read about Thom Yorke's 'influences'

I have a lot of nostalgia for the 90s.  It was the decade before everything changed.  I remember this album coming out and I think it's better than OK Computer.

The Bends sounds as good now, as it did then.

I saw them perform Fake Plastic Trees in Manchester, England, in 2017 and almost did a wee wee I got so excited.

The Bends makes me rock.  Ok Computer makes me think and is the genesis of their later experimental musings.  Both are excellent landmark albums.

“Sucker love is heaven sent

You pucker up, our passion's spent
My heart's a tart, your body's rent

My body's broken, yours is bent

Carve your name into my arm
Instead of stressed, I lie here charmed
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you”

I love Bones most of all. Might play the whole album over the weekend because it's been a while.
