« on: February 18, 2020, 06:35:09 PM »
Every U2 concert I go to, it's U2 playing U2 songs! I mean WTF, can't they give it a break and have another band play cover songs of other bands?
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

Good thought. At first I was thinking they should cover other bands but they suck at that. So I guess next U2 concert I want to hear Green Day covering Adele.

I'm sick of going to U2 concerts and hearing songs I already have on CD, vinyl, cassette, and digital download. I can listen to these songs at home any time I want.

Like the stand up comedian said: people in the audience don't shout "do us one we don't now" to bands at rock concerts.

Edge's cat has been inhaling too much smoke from Australia's fires.

I dare say that Cat is having a pop at my post, as i dared to state im sick of hearing certain songs played live, pretty much at every u2 show for much of the past 20 yrs. Thing is, they are inferior songs to many of the songs they could call upon, but noooooooooo, as they are "crowd pleasers" we have to suffer them over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

He's making a good point.  Most people there don't think they're inferior songs, and it's a matter of opinion.  Hardly anybody on earth has seen them more than like 3 times in their lives.  And those that are on their first or second show absolutely want to hear Streets, With Or Without You, Pride, etc etc.

Haha just stirring the forums up! It's been a bit quiet around here (except for the politics area).

What if U2 played a new album in full live on tour before releasing it? Has that ever been done by anyone?

Prince played most of the songs on his Gold Experience album on a European tour in early 1995 before the album was released.  The tour was called the Ultimate Experience.

I think U2 could have pulled it off in the 1990's, when they were hot property, but not now. Last year their hits got the biggest audience response (especially their dancier hits, Vertigo, Elevation, and especially EBTTRT the crowd loved that), but everyone was pretty quiet for Love Is Bigger (which is a decent tune on the album).
