Vertigo

Before I saw U2 live, SOI tour...I thought Vertigo was "okay". After seeing it live, I thought it was GREAT! Maybe it's because I have Jesus 'round my neck, and I like to swing to the music...
but I think it's because they seem to enjoy playing it...Edge looks like he's having a ball. Here are two clips...one from my second SOI show and an even better vid from Toronto.

It's a decent rocker in a live setting.  Just don't make a habit of it.

Sorry, riffy....but i think it is shite.

It is just a big, dumb pop rock song that does not even have the saving grace of being or sounding a bit cool. It sounds exactly what it is, old guys trying to sound 'punk' or 'garage' and failing.

LTS.

Sorry.

Pah. Simply Pah. What exactly is wrong with a big, dump pop rock song? Do you really expect every single song to be a classic? No, it's not in my top 10, or probably not even my top 50, but it's a good, fun song. So, PAH, ya old curmudgeon.

Nothing wrong as such with big, dumb pop rock songs - it isn't what i look for from u2 personally but nothing wrong with them as such....IF they are good songs.

Vertigo IMO is simply not a good song.

So pAh to you, missey.

Vertigo got the crowd jumping at my I+e show.  That's why they play it.

It's one of my least favorite songs of theirs, down there with Elevation and Stuck In A Moment.  It's their sell-out song.  Its the i pod music video.  It's trying to rock when you know you're starting to kid yourself.  It's a grasp at relevancy for a demographic who only know you for a Super Bowl performance and Beautiful Day.  It's shitt.

When I first heard it as the lead single from the new album I knew it was going to be bad.
"Trump supporters are fucking morons"
“Albums still matter,” he said to the crowd of pop star and music luminaries. “Like books and black lives"

For my taste, Vertigo suffers in the same way Beautiful Day does. Both are half decent tunes....but BOTH (Elevation is also included in this), are needing a break from being played live. Im simply sick of hearing them at every u2 show. Give some more deserving tunes an airing.
