Celebrity deaths that knocked you for 6?
« on: February 16, 2020, 08:33:41 AM »
I am wondering, are there any Celeb deaths that have affected you more than normal?

Iam an empath and feel sad when we lose almost anyone (apart from bad eggs). But some deaths hit me more than others.

Some that really got to me were:

Rik Mayall (British Comedian), Elvis, (although i was only 7 when he died, i was a big fan, having grown up listening to his music. It was the first death i was aware of and i could quite get my head around it, that Elvis was gone)
Prince was a shocker for me....but it was David Bowie's passing that got to me, like no other. I was really sad for about 3 days
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

Prince was the shocker.
Bowie was the most painful.

The one that affected me the most was Robin Williams.
I feel my luck could change.

Bowie and Robin Williams above all, I'd say equally. I'd been watching or listening to them in one form or another since childhood.

Diana, Princess of Wales.

I already felt bad for her because she was stuck in that absurdity of a family, and she was just trying to get away, and the bastards, rather than helping her after her accident, photographed her death.

John Lennon.I was on the bus to school & the driver had the radio on when news broke.Everyone met in the assembly hall & cried & cried & cried.....I still remember every minute of that day.

Princess Diana. My sister & I had just been to see U2 in Dublin when reports came in of Diana being involved in a car carsh in Paris.Devastating.We visited her last resting place a few years later.

Ben Hollioake, 24yr old Australian-born cricketer who played for England, killed in a car crash in March 2002.He was just getting established in the team and he was very popular.

Heath Ledger's passing was really shocking and unexpected--an accidental prescription overdose. He was a huge talent.

Michael Hutchence.I was a fan of INXS, had seen them in concert but he got mixed up with the wrong people, I think.Such a talented bloke.

Robin Williams? Suicide? That knocked me for six.

I used to watch The Beatles cartoons when i was a kid,  they played on tv while i was eating breakfast and getting ready for school.  One morning my Dad had worked late and he came home as i was getting ready for school.  He walked up to the TV and pointed at the John Lennon character in the cartoon,  and he told me what had happened the night before that Lennon had been shot.  As a kid who wasn't even into music yet,  but i did enjoy The Beatles,  this bothered me.  Hard to believe it's been nearly 40 years.

Prince - just a tragedy.

Bowie - i had just rediscovered him due to the release of Blackstar,  a fantastic album.  Hearing of his death just absolutely floored me.  As a kid i loved 'Let's Dance' and had several singles from that album.  Ah,  the 80's,  things were so much simpler then.

Patrick Swayze - always thought of him to be one of the good guys,  watched a lot of his movies growing up.

Larry Hagman - sad to see JR go.  He played that role so well in the 80's.

Joan Rivers - her death seemed unnecessary.

Bowie was a biggie, an early musical love of mine.

But none bigger than Neil Peart.
