JT 30th Anniversary Set Remixes
« on: November 12, 2017, 02:52:59 AM »
so i just got this today and i'd only heard the BTBS and of course RHMT remixes. i loved all the remixes, i really did. i thought they'd try to "club" it up and give us beat-heavy Perfecto style remixes. I really liked the "reimagings" of them esp. the OTH remix.

but.....whats with the Streets Flood mix? was that a demo they used? where the streets have no face/love etc? if it was i'd love it even more. i loved how it was a collage of songs from JT.

also, was that OTH reprise considered for the album? i know we got the outro/coda whatever with the oh great ocean" part, but, considering JT was originally gonna be a double disc what's the story behind that?

in the Elevation era, when i was 19/20 years old, i dug up all the fruitleg/b-side remixes i could find and obsess over them. and mind you this was before youtube so i had to dig around for them. i even have a MOTD remix, plus 2 WOWY remixes. so these 30th anniversary remixes are right up my alley, albeit it 16 years later.

I think the additions to Streets are all pasted.

It's indeed great to hear several songs in that songs. The better call it The Joshua Song

what do you mean by pasted? i think it's just the demo.

i think with a 50th anniversary set <which duh will happen, i doubt a 40th will thought> i hope we get a Kindergarten JT, or maybe some of the other snippets of song ideas they abandoned, like the Smashing Pumpkins have done with all their box sets.

it's like they had (or created) snippets of young Bono singing those words, cut 'streets' and replaced it with those words. Those lines aren't flowing smoothless

ah i see. ill listen again.

i still wonder about the OTH reprise, if that was intended for the album? and where it would have gone in the album?

I thought they were 20!7-remixes (interesting to see how they would have remixed these days!). I could be wrong about the reprise

wait a reprise isn't a remix. its, kind of like a shorter version of another song's chorus from the album. you see it a lot in musicals or rock opera albums.

The Jacknife Lee remix of BTBS is outstanding. WAY better than the original.
What are we going to do now it's all been said.
No new ideas in the house and every book has been read.

Hmm, OK. I think it's the same first verse as the St. Francis Hotel.

I dob't understand your question about the reprise, then
