U2 versus GnR

You guys and gals seem intent on comparing U2 to other artists, so how about we compare them with the only other band in the 80's that compared in popularity.

For me, U2 hands down. I love GnR but they are a one trick pony. Thoughts?

Doesn't mean they're not fun.

OK:

80's U2 definitely beats 80's GnR. AFD was a great record, and lies was meh, but compared to U2's amazing 80's catalog, this is small beans.
90's: U2 wins again. UYI 1 & 2 were great efforts but AB, Zooropa, POP, Passengers and MDH - sorry, doesn't compare.
00's: U2 wins again, but only because in among the weeds of their two worst records were some excellent songs and great tours. GnR had .....Chinese democracy.
U2 by three decades to nil.

I like the Use Your Illusion records and the videos that came out in that period for them- but it's no contest with U2.

One changed Axl's life.

For a few months, at least.

It is a pity that GNR does not release albums on a regular basis. They could have been other Stones.
