Nope, none of us hate the mods on @u2. Quite the contrary. We respect the hell out of them because they've successfully run a forum for many years and have contributed so much to the U2 fan community. They are great people.
This forum came about because @u2 decided to take a break, possibly permanently, maybe temporarily. I was bothered by this news and knew several people who also were upset, plus those who had departed @u2 before, and I decided to do something. I've worked in web development for over a decade now, have run forums before and it was fairly easy for me to set this place up. It's a bit harder to continue building the place than to merely set it up as I did a couple nights ago, but we'll learn as we go along and continue to make this community a positive place for U2 fans to come and discuss our band along with just about any other topic.
We don't want to step on anyone's toes here, nor do we want to replace @u2 unless they decide to make their closure permanent. Even then, we won't be a replacement, we'll just be another option for U2 fans. Our rules won't be the same as @u2's because every place has its own rules, but we aim to create a positive, fair environment where people can post freely and not fear being banned.
