Thought I'd add one that actually has a chance of getting some votes against our boys.

Finally a "yes".

“Albums still matter,” he said to the crowd of pop star and music luminaries. “Like books and black lives"

Godamn it I pressed the wrong button! LZ 1-4 wipe the floor with u2.

Has anyone seen that silly film ‘it might get loud’?

Page makes a mockery of the edge. I care even less for jack white

I don't think anyone wiped the floor with anyone else. There was tremendous respect in the room.

For me, the BEST Zeppelin music is better than the BEST U2 music. There are 15-20 songs from LZ that are outstanding. Rain, WTLB, Kashmir and of course Stairway.

However, They were not prolific and they were often too far up their own arses musically, with 3 minute songs turned into 15 minute repetitive drum or guitar solos. Even Kashmir gets too long with its 'ooohhhh"s. Their star burned bright but burned out in a few years. They were not writing songs like Book of your heart 41 years after forming.

Heavy metal is boring! I much preferred the Reynolds sisters.

And I can play Immigrant song. Simple doesn't mean inferior. Try playing where the streets have no name.

U2’s star burned out long ago. Comparing the best of U2’s work to the best of LZ’s work regardless of career longevity is like comparing chalk and cheese

Not a LZ fan but i can respect their music.  Tough to compare their music to U2 but i think you'd be hard pressed to find any albums from the last 100 years that can top TJT or AB.

  • In a room full of martyrs, who gets the credit?
Led Zeppelin used to be my favorite band, but I got over them and moved on to U2 in college.  I love them, but for my money, technical skill and complexity doesn't matter nearly as much as emotional expression and atmosphere.  U2 are better at the latter two, better at them than any other band imo.

Led Zeppelin also has a tendency to be a little bit masturbatory.  They have a song that jokes about the bridge never coming and that was designed to be undanceable but was named like a dance song.  Funny for a bit, then the joke wears off quick and you are left with nothing of value.

That said, Led Zep IV is a masterpiece.  Levee Breaks alone is just ridiculously great.

Probably only true on a U2 fan forum.

Let me re-phrase, TJT and AB are on a higher plane when it comes to albums.  There's other great albums that are up there.
