Bon Jovi vs U2
« on: January 07, 2020, 04:27:06 PM »
In before Jick...
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

Bon Jovi did movie soundtracks better than U2. Goin' down in a blaze of glory..!

My pretentious associates at uni would put U2 and Bon Jovi in the same bracket. I painfully remember one person saying Bon Jovi were probably better. It was at that point that I realised there was little hope in trying to educate them.

I actually liked Bon Jovi early on like many boys of my age group but I gave all their albums away years ago and would struggle to listen to them now. That aside, seemed they had a decent reputation as a live act and it was sad to hear about the falling out.

Even by the middling standards of '80s hair metal, BJ were always shit. Maybe 3 great songs over their entire career, tops. Thing is, there were hardly any good ones. Either great or crap, almost nothing in between. As for their live shows...some friends took me to see BJ back in '95. Watched them sleepwalk through You Give Love A Bad Name and Living On A Prayer to start the show, and that was enough for me to just view them with contempt pretty much from then on. No excuse for any band not suffering from illness to go out there and dog it like that. Pathetic.

I'm amazed they opened with those two songs because the only way I'd sit through a Bon Jovi set is to wait for Livin' on a Prayer.

I've never been able to take Bon Jovi seriously. Even U2 at their cheesiest had some legitimacy.

Oh ok so the Simple Minds stuff was just trolling.
There's a bible verse,

Well, if that verse is true,
there's hope for me and you.

Bon Jovi are for people who basically don't like music.

I don't really care for Bon Jovi, but my guy saw them live in Japan a long time ago, and he said they were really good live. But, even as a casual fan, he likes U2 better.
I’ve seen for myself, there’s no end to grief, that’s how I know, and why I need to know that there is no end to love
