Fuck 'em. You know how I feel.
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

Great news. It’s interesting that bands that claim to care - in this case u2 - about their fans get into bed with companies like LN. U2 must have known that their dubious behaviour with tickets meant fans were getting ripped off.

What happened to the band that refused to charge more for ZOOTV tickets so they could make a profit? Or gave tickets away to unemployed people. That was the band I admired. Interestingly the rapid decline in U2’s artistry reflects the rapid decline in their moral standards.

Now they’re no different from any other mega corporation

The general admission tickets U2 offer for their shows are still a great deal when it comes to price and quality of ticket. Best ticket in the house and nearly the cheapest price. Most artist are not will to do that.

exactly which policy are you calling into question?  be specific please (dont tell me that you dont like LN or call them thieves etc).

this is a business folks.  if you dont like the prices, don't go to the show.  plenty of people make this choice, including me on the last tour.  that's why price reductions and ticket drops happen.

and oh yeah - the bands get to set prices btw.

Are you honestly defending live nations ticketing policy? Saying ‘it’s a business’ could be applied to anything including people trafficking, child porn, drugs or whatever. Grow up.

I'm not 'defending' anyone or anything.  I asked you a simple question, and you are either incapable of - or unwilling - to answer it.   So I'll ask again - what specific policy are you referring to?

And if your best response is to try to insult me, you have got to do better than 'grow up'.

oh I see... so you are upset about LN's 'policy' of favoring venues that also use their TicketMaster business for the ticketing.  Is that it?  and this is because it affects you personally?

And therefore you are taking this firm, principled stand on behalf of the aggrieved, oppressed stadium and arena owners - those poor billionaire fellows (usually mega-corporations themselves).

Kudos to you sir.

OK, lets all calm down a bit here. There's room for opinions and stuff. My personal opinion is that it is the role of government to intervene to define what business practices are immoral. As someone who sets prices for a business myself, I understand the constant pull between being a good person and doing what's right for the business. "Fair" is in the mind of the individual. When a doctor spends 12 years in school and gets 500k in debt in order to get there, he might think it's fair to charge $300 for a primary care visit. A single mother with a sick child might not agree. Government has a role here. The primary beef with LN / TM is the resell thing, which artists might see as someone elses problem. Hopefully the Government cracks down.
