I posted a link to go and hear the song. For my taste...it is WOEFUL! I dont think i will ever need to hear the song again in my life.

I think it is a one of release and has been released to appeal to fans in India, ahead of the u2 show there next month.

It's getting tougher and tougher to tell Coldplay from U2.

And that is not a good thing.

More and more people are making the Coldplay comparison. It is worrying!

I think it's best to leave this one in the "Collaborations" section...

Im thinking/hoping, that this song is specially marketed to the Indian crown and is in no way, indicative of where the band are planning going with their new material.

Oh look u2 have written a song about India ahead of their attempt to break another lucrative market. If anyone on this forum is in doubt regarding their cynical marketing strategy at this point they are insane.

I’m not thinking India is a big market for u2 so I don’t see the cynicism, just an attempt to connect with an unfamiliar audience

The song is decent until you hear the forced chorus line and then it gets predictable - too Coldplay for my taste

I don't think it's necessarily cynical marketing to write a song about India ahead of their tour there.  If I were an Indian fan, I'd be delighted.

I'd like to see U2: The Musical.  Bollywood style.

They shouldn't work with this producer again.  Vocals don't sound good, sounds autotuned in parts, and it is too Coldplayish.  Song itself is... fine, nothing remarkable, but it's not bad.  Far better than American Soul or Boots.  Feels like a rush job.

FWIW

Additional information about U2's new single "Ahimsa" - the song was produced by Duncan Stewart, mixed by Steve Lillywhite, and the female voices are A.R. Rahman's daughters.

Apparently Duncan Stewart is the bassist for a band called Basement and was an engineer on SOE, no production credits besides this song that I can find.  Ahimsa seems like a bit of an afterthought.
