Star Wars - The Mandalorian
« on: November 15, 2019, 02:38:06 PM »
Two episodes in- and I absolutely love it. If you don't like Star Wars, or the western movie genre, don't bother.

I LOVE western movies, and I love Star Wars - and this series so far perfectly melds the two. The music, feel and scope is completely unique, and wonderful.

Its totally Star Wars, but nothing like it.

Lets discuss.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. My sister has Disney+ and said I can just use her account to watch it. ;D

Itís really a bargain compared to Netflix. Up to 4 users at the same time can stream and thatís below 10$/month. Iím sharing mine with the whole family.  :D

I donít know if Iíll personally watch much, although they do have Nat Geo programming that might interest me. But my 2 ę young adult Ľ kids are excited that theyíll have access to their childhood favorites.

So I watched all of it and really liked the whole series. Iím ranking it in the same vein as Rogue One, which I appreciated more than most of the last trilogy.

But thereís one little thing that I found annoying: this thing takes place after ROTJ and none of the characters seem familiar with The Force. WTF?  :o

I'm half way through the series.  Was surprised to see storm troopers.  At first glance their outfits seem very old like they're not really the Empire but just a bunch of people dressing up in old uniforms they found and calling themselves part of the empire.  Herzog is perfect in this series- creepy.

Binged the last four episodes last night with 2 bottles of wine (flying solo from the wife and kid for a week so i've got my stack of films and tv to get through).  Episodes 5 and 8 were my favorites.  I thought the set-up for the villain exiting the TIE fighter was going to be a well-known character.  Not sure who Gus Fring is, but the fact he has a black light saber is cool.

i didn't want to give Disney any money, but the person who rents a room from me got the free week trial.  This guy bought youtube TV just to watch Cobra Kai though...  Mandalorian might be worth paying for a month at least.
