Songs of Experience - Album Art - Thoughts?
« on: November 02, 2017, 12:26:20 PM »

How does it compare to part U2 covers?

Better or worse than HTDAAB?

Does it connect to SOI?

Your thoughts on it?

Every album since ATYCLB has been black and white (except for the edges of HTDAAB). Just an observation.

It's alright. Definitely not their worst but not revolutionary either.

What immediately struck me was the past/future connection.

On the left, Bono’s Son - already an aspiring rock star himself - future. On the right, edges daughter wearing an army helmet reminiscint of the boy from the early days. A repetition of the past. The baton is passed to the next generation as Bono writes songs from the perspective of someone already dead - someone who had a “brush with mortality” .....

Anything is better than HTDAAB, NLOTH or SOI album covers.

Could be better. Could be worse.

At least Anton is back in the saddle.
I saw Gloria live. Even if I never see the band live again, at least I saw Gloria live. :)

Its better than HTDAAB & SOI. Nothing else though. So it ranks third from last for me. I do have to say though, that its not that bad! I LOVE the blue theme that seems to be going on, and the image fits in with this Bono's letters idea.
What are we going to do now it's all been said.
No new ideas in the house and every book has been read.

It is probably a bit 'cleverer' than it looks but for me walks that fine line between being clever and pretentious....

The helmet i really dislike - its a horse they have flogged a bit much now IMO

Yeah, we thought that was just for the single cover, she looks nice in it but it just seems weird here.

I think it's pretty slick...I actually liked the artwork for NLOTH and ATYCLB - thought it was rather mature and fitting for the record.  But SOE cover art is better than SOI.  None, however, are as good as U2's best covers: AB, War, TJT, even R&H.
Hold on, people! The man's talking about waste management. That affects the whole damn planet.

I suppose when you're a band like U2 a tin hat comes in handy.
