Vacations- where are you going?
« on: February 17, 2019, 06:28:49 PM »
So where’s everyone planning to go?

This year I’m thinking a quick trip to Las Vegas in April, might have to go to Miami in May for work.

In August I’m contemplating a family European vacation. We haven’t been there yet but my daughter is now old enough to enjoy it and remember it.

I’m thinking of London, Paris, Barcelona, 1 week cruise from Barcelona to Rome. Then fly home from Rome. About 3 weeks total. I was gonna start in Dublin, but now thinking going straight to London instead.

Be careful when you're backing up your car near Stonehenge.  And if you knock some bloke off his bike on the mean streets of London please don't expect profuse apologies.

It's the Arizona high country for us...two separate weeks later in the year.

I have friends moving to Vancouver in the next couple of months and I'll be visiting them at some point this year.
I feel my luck could change.

In the wake of my divorce, I have booked a week off in early April to go to Martinique to hike, hang out on the beach, practice my french, and just clear my head.
Hold on, people! The man's talking about waste management. That affects the whole damn planet.

What is “the Arizona high country”? Only place in Arizona I’ve been is Scottsdale. Is the high country the mountains?

I love the desert landscape of the southwest U.S. Golfing in Scottsdale was a blast. In September I was in L.A with my family and decided to drive through the desert to Vegas for a few nights. Next time I want to do the drive though Joshua Tree.

Yes, the high country means our mountains... the Mongollon Rim...or Sedona...or Flagstaff. There are many mountain areas to enjoy...a very nice change from where we live in the desert. I love the desert landscape, too...and the Arizona sky at night (from sunset right through sunrise) is THE BEST. Joshua Tree...we've driven through that area...just awesomely beautiful.

I'm learning to ski on a dry ski slope so I'll probably go on my first skiing holiday next season, probably in the USA rather than someplace in Europe.

I'll probably have a few days in Jersey this spring.

Good stuff Dice! As you can see with my little signature, skiing is one of my passions in life. And please consider Canada, as we have amazing skiing here.

As for myself, my next trip will be in May in the north of France. I will travel from Mont St-Michel to Vimy Ridge, passing by all the WWII sites in Normandy. We initially wanted to drop by Jersey/Gurnesey also, but in the end it was not possible to fit it in.

I've not decided where yet.  One thing's for certain I'll be taking out plenty of medical insurance!

If the Great White North comes on your radar, I would suggest Whistler in BC or Sunshine Village in Banff, AB. And on the plus side vs USA resorts: no guns.  ;)

Whistler over Banff. With Whistler you got Vancouver an hour away which gives more options. Whistler is also a great party town. Many epic nights back in my single days up in Whistler.

Definitely. Greatest ski resort there is. Blackhomb Glacier is one of my favorite places on this Earth.  :)
