Debut rock albums
« on: January 22, 2019, 12:56:10 PM »
A lot of bands take a couple of albums to really ramp it up, but there's plenty that knock it out of the park the 1st time up. Tell us the ones you love. As "fave" and "best" don't necessarily intersect, feel free to tell us some of both.   :)

Some of the best debut albums:

Appetite For Destruction - Guns and Roses
The Kick Inside - Kate Bush
Q: Are We Not Men?  A: We Are Devo! - Devo
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
Murmur - R.E.M.
Van Halen - Van Halen
Facelift - Alice In Chains
Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd
Boston - Boston
The Cars - The Cars

have at it, people.   8)

Yeah, Oasis' Definitely Maybe has to be one of the biggest ever.  They just exploded.

One i don't think i saw yet- The Door's The Doors.
Some more recent ones would be The Killers, The Bravery, The Strokes

Ten was a pretty big way for Pearl Jam to make an entrance.

And Yellow Ledbetter was a b-side.

The Sex Pistols is a weird one since they only had one album.

Coldplay- i'm not the biggest fan but they were pretty good from the start and have remained consistent.  Not sure if any of their albums are considered masterpieces- they all seem to have a mix of great tracks with a few bland ones.

Parachutes was a great debut. But was it a rock album?  ;)
