I am the Walrus
« on: January 19, 2019, 11:18:00 PM »

I'm obviously biased but I think this is a great cover - like it more than the original. I was surprised to see YT comments largely agree.

When I saw this movie (borrowed DVD from library, never heard of it before), I had no idea Bono was in it, and I had not been following the band. So when he showed up in the moustache, hair, cowboy hat, etc., I did not recognize his looks at all. But I did recognize the je ne sais quoi. I didn't think it was him but I said to myself, jeez, that guy is a lot like Bono, he moves like him, has an intensity. Lol. (Speakers were crummy so recognizing his voice wasn't a slam dunk).

i just don't care for this song period.  Oasis has a well known cover but don't listen to that either.

I did not care for the original Walrus, but I love this rendition. It's not just Bono, it's also the trippy sounds. But Bono nailed it.

I did not care for Lucy much, and Bono's cover didn't add anything for me. Sounds about the same as the original.

Well, I hadn't seen him for many years (stopped following him) so didn't know what he looked like after Vertigo. And a moustache does change the looks quite a bit; that's why it is a popular disguise. That set of glasses is like the current ones but they were different from any I'd seen him in at the time I watches this however many years ago.

Plus I'm literally fucking blind.

Yeah, but I zoom in and stuff.

My central vision is the best part, so I can read but can't walk down the street without a white cane. But the central vision is getting crummy too.

And great stuff from the Secret Machines as well. A really decent band that were around all too briefly. I recommend their two albums if you haven't yet tried them.
