Do you think I'm right in assuming that line from "Gone" inspired the title of the following album "All that you can't leave behind" ?

Same idea, different point of view...
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Actualy, this idea would link Gone and Walk On. I can see that.

It's fine to steal from others- it's unforgivable to steal from yourself.

Absolutely connected 100%. You can find that with every U2 album and Bono's lyrical ideas. It's one reason I love U2 and Bono's ideas.
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

There are certain themes that crop up repeatedly in Bono's lyrics, and yes, the title of ATYCLB is certainly connected to the line in Gone, but there is something more evangelical and joyous in the take on this theme in Walk On.

Great and true observation.

ATYCLB and Pop are tightly joined, but as opposites, I think. If Pop was the dark night of the soul, ATYCLB is the Beautiful Day.

A lot of people said ATYCLB was a "return to form" for U2, but really, what sound does the album "return" to? What song belongs on JT or TUF or War?

I'd say what people were sensing was an emergence from the darkness. The old U2 were strong in faith despite the horrors of the world. But in the 90s, they dabbled or even succumbed to the darkness. ATYCLB returned not to the old music but to the old outlook: that there is darkness in the world but we can carry that weight.
