Good that we have a thread for this now.  I like that song, an tha, has some nice riffs and a cool sound.

So, my first band to introduce people to: Ho-Hum

This band is local to me.  They never had that big a following even for a local band, but they were always very well respected, landing high on lists of the best bands in town.  They are not my favorite band from around here, but they are the closest to U2 (IE least country) of the bands I'd like to mention.  They started out as a pop rock band and moved into more experimental territory later in their career.

Here's my favorite song of their's, Don't Move to City.  It was released in 1997 on the album entitled Sanduleak, which I think is their best record.

Here's a more experimental one:

My top 20 Ho-Hum songs:
1. Don't Move to the City
2. Pretty Ugly
3. I'm-a-Waking Up
4. Good to Get to Know
5. Things Like That are a Drag
6. Exit Strategy
7. Fake Pop Minefield
8. He Married a Girl from Mississippi
9. Too Much Elbow Room
10. Ladyboy
11. Bad Things
12. The Mother Factor
13. Ordinary People
14. 26 Hour Blues
15. You Know How Lonely Goes
16. Let's Do
17. Handheld
18. Rendezvousoo
19. The Ax
20. A Heart of Stone

If the songs I linked caught your ear and you'd like to check this band out, I'd start by listening to their album Sanduleak.

Here's their Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0m2S5Mo14Pd35UCvD5Wzi6?si=VuUHstBiSumcQLbmbsHXCQ

This is Heilung:

This is not rock music. Hell, it might be more of an invocation of spirits than a concert, period. Immensely powerful; it might awaken something within you. You might not like that, or you might love it.

Here's some Detroit music from people who are doing it now:

The War And Treaty

This is Bevlove. If you went and asked a hundred current local musicians, "who on the scene can you NOT believe isn't a worldwide star yet?", at least half of them would say Bevlove.

Dani Darling's repping A2 better than anyone has in a while. Love her chilled-out style here:

There's a LOT of killer Americana-type music coming out of this city right now. Mike here's one of the best, and he's got a full-length album coming sometime next year. For now, just dig on this:

Blueflowers' previous music (all highly recommended) was perhaps best described as Americana noir; they've gone more in a rock direction on their new album, which came out a couple of weeks ago. Happy to report they've kept the quality level up:

Dream Wife...

Check out their self titled debut.

It is an absolutely exhilirating listen 11 2-4 min max indie rock belters, catchy as hell, punchy guitar, plenty of hooks.

This is 'Somebody' from that album - Live.

Young band that put out their debut album just last year, The Greeting Committee:

Early EP's have a nice garage rocky-sound:

Their debut has them exploring some new sounds. It's got acoustic guitar, string sections, horn sections, and a good deal of piano, all layered together very nicely:

Seven Cities - from Dawlish in Devon

One love, One blood, One life;
You got to do what you should.
One life; With each other
Sisters, Brothers
One life; But we're not the same
We get to carry each other, Carry each other

Well, there's a band called Single by Sunday, from Glasgow, who were on the same lineup as Seven Cities (see above) last year.
I didn't go and see them.
Because they are pop-punk (their Facebook page says they are big fans of 5 Seconds of Summer, Fall Out Boy, You Me At Six etc).
But I thought I'd have a look and see if they have put out anything recently....and I was pleasantly surprised.

This video deserves 10/10 for effort.  Very fun and watchable....you'll know what I mean when you start watching it.....(I've left the preview off for the element of surprise)

If you can't stand the repetitive chorus...mute the sound and watch the video!

Nice, they're playing about a 10 minute walk away from my house in a few months.  I'll report back on how they are live.
