Get On Your Bootlegs

OK, top 3 live recordings from each U2 tour....

Now for my part, I avoid audience recordings unless they are straight up 5/5 stars (like Chicago '87). Otherwise I like to stick to soundboard or broadcast recordings. IEM recordings are sometimes good too.

I will post my '90s answers and may add more later:

ZooTV:

1. Dublin '93 (best bootleg in existence IMO, both performance- and recording-wise)
2. Sydney '93 (slightly better quality than Adelaide, and it contains the Zooropa stuff that the Dublin show didn't)
3. Washington DC (great recording, killer performance of Ultraviolet)

PopMart:

1. Tel Aviv (great quality, Bono is in good form)
2. Leeds (Bono is super amped and even tells George Harrison to go #@$% himself before EBTTRT)
3. Santiago (quality not as good as Mexico City but Bono's vocals seem better to me).

There are too many good recordings from Boy-War to list, and unfortunately I have never found a bootleg from the UF tour that I like and consider definitive of that era.

Anyone else care to fill this incomplete list in?

I'll echo your Dublin, Leeds, and Santiago picks... phenomenal shows. The Rotterdam and Paris bootlegs from Zoo TV are up there too. The Sao Paulo show during Popmart is also solid.

The hardest part about PopMart is that a quality recording doesn't insure a quality vocal performance (which is what it all comes down to for me). Like, if Bono hits the notes in Gone, I can be pretty sure it's going to be a good show overall. His Tel Aviv effort was really good.

Leeds is probably my favourite Popmart bootleg, even though it's an audience recording - it was just such a great show.

For Zooropa I like the Dublin bootleg, of course, and for indoors Zoo TV Rotterdam is great but lacks a performance of "Ultraviolet".

Nope it was an audience recording but a very good one.  There is a Wembley Popmart soundboard out there that is good.

Never knew there was a radio broadcast of the show - my boot is "live at leeds" which is an audience recording.  Just listening to this one you linked and the quality is very nice.  According to interference it is from a broadcast in France.  Anyway, I am sure that an tha is praying to santa to get this boot for him for xmas.

Dortmund is a good UF era boot, but a little incomplete if memory serves.

Rotterdam Popmart was an excellent audience recording.

Sheffield 360 obviously.

My complaint about so many UF boots is that they are incomplete. A proper recording from that tour would need to include ASOH, Wire, and ISS. I would give anything for a high quality complete show from that tour.
