Really great read.
Listen as Hope and Peace try to rhyme,
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.

Thanks that was enjoyable. Makes me think they should get Flood AND Howie back in the studio for a new project.

Larry during Passengers sessions :

Larry would come in and say; ďI love what you are doing Howie can I do some drums?Ē

really, larry? is that really what you thought?

Brilliant. At last we have someone from the U2 camp seeing the album for what it is, not being frustrated by what it's not.

I replayed the Pop LP the other day. I had not played the album in full since maybe 15 years. Mostly because I have a playlist where I replaced the album mixes with the singles mixes. I was surprised at how it stands on it own. Even Please. I always preferred the single mix but in the context of the album it totally clicks.

I maintain this is the one album that should get a proper remaster AND bonus tracks (demos, specifically).
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Seems like Howie B and Flood basically created this record. Is it even a U2 record. I thought I read once that Flood was pissed cuz he didnít get writing credits. Can anyone confirm?

one can say this about many if not all U2 records.  I do believe history will not be kind to them on this matter.  way too dependent on their producers to create their sound, at the song/track level and at the album level.

the difference now is that they use so many producers that the albums feel disjointed.  as SOE does (SOI less so for me).  they had this issue on Bomb so it's odd they continue to do this every record since then...

Oh man....

To be able to hear that stuff....

Hong Kong demos are just a teaser of the fucking brilliance that could be out there somewhere.....
