« on: October 18, 2017, 06:58:26 PM »
Id love to know what everyone thinks are the best albums this year. 2017 has been crazy good for new music.

My favorites:

Sleep Well Beast - The National
Colors - Beck
MASSEDUCTION - St. Vincent
V - The Horrors
Wonderful Wonderful - The Killers
Villains - Queens of the Stone Age
Everything Now - Arcade Fire
Coast Modern - Coast Modern
Melodrama - Lorde

How Did We Get So Dark? - Royal Blood
Ti Amo - Phoenix
Silver Eye - Goldfrapp
Pure Comedy - Father John Misty
Sacred Hearts Club - Foster the People
Ultralife - Oh Wonder
Humanz - Gorillaz

I'm not sure what my top album is, but I'm really into Colors at the moment.

Right now for me, Bent Knee's Land Animal
and Zola Jesus' Okovi are out front, with Austra's Future Politics
 right behind them.

My favorites so far:

1. A Deeper Understanding - The War on Drugs
2. Oczy Mlody - The Flaming Lips
3. Sleep Well Beast - The National
4. Colors - Beck
5. Crack-Up - Fleet Foxes
6. Heartworms - The Shins
7. Visions of a Life - Wolf Alice
8. Let the Dancers Inherit the Party - British Sea Power
9. I See You - The xx
10. Wonderful Wonderful - The Killers
11. Ti Amo- Phoenix
12. Hot Thoughts - Spoon

The only true disappointment for me so far has been the new Foo Fighters. It's the most bland and forgettable thing they've ever done, coupled with horrible production and poor lyrics. I also passed up the new Arcade Fire, as every song I heard from it left me totally underwhelmed. Can't win them all, I suppose. Here's hoping U2 ends the year on a high note.

THIS is exactly why I miss the boat on newer artists.  I'm such a 70's/80's gal (with some exception of course) I stay In my happy place and any new material I delve into is from those old artists already in my catalogue. Haha.
Admittedly, with some disappointment (insert various U2, Morrisey, et al, here)

It is easy to as you put it stay in a safe space - there really is so much great stuff out there from new artists and i personally get a buzz when i find something new i love from a new artist....it's like starting a new relationship, all the excitement, intrigue and desire to find out more....

Still of course get a big buzz when an old flame sets the pulse racing again too!
