This is a beautiful, sad song. I'm giving it a 9.

I don't mind it much. It was nice to have a new U2 song between proper albums. I like it better than "Hands Across America" um, I mean "Hands that Built America."

I HATE however that U2 released a 2nd Best of for a decade that had just ended. The 1980 to 1990 one came out in 1998, that gave it at least 8 years to simmer and see what held up quality-wise. Then they fecked around with Pop tracks and a "Best of" version of Mysterious Ways and released it with only 2 years minimum for it to simmer, and they resorted to revisionist history.

But back to the song. It's ok. Slightly better than meh.
I saw Gloria live. Even if I never see the band live again, at least I saw Gloria live. :)

Another great song with a cinematic feel.  Teaches us that air can be heavier than a truck.

3/10

It has that HTDAAB aesthetic that I really do not care for. Bono's delivery bothers me and I find the musical background pretty lifeless.

Better than some give it credit for but not quite up to the title of classic in my book.

4.  A bit of fresh air after the tinnyness of ATYCLB.

7/10.  It was neat that they played it a few times on the 360 tour.

I rate it a solid 6. If you ask me, it's better than half of the tracks that are on HTDAAB.

10/10 for the William Orbit mix - this version is just sublime, a wonderful atmospheric song. Only 5/10 for the "regular" version. It just doesn't hit the heights of the WO version for me.

Lush and layered vocals with a hint of sexiness in Bono's voice.  A ten for me :o
